House warming, birthday party and RM1 million house tour
Apr 11th, 2008 by Neo
I was invited to attend a friend’s house warming cum his baby’s birthday party last weekend, but due to my unplanned and unexpected trip to Kuching, I was afraid I might not been able to make it. But, luckily there was some relief in Kuching and I was able to come back on time to give my friend a visit.
It was such a wonderful evening and I really had been waiting for this for a very long time. I was told my friend has been pretty successful in his undertakings and I was curious to find out how beautiful is his mansion!

Let’s start of our photo journey with these happy faces, they were my ex-colleagues. They girl was absolutely stunning and the boys were still in good shape although they have their worth multiplied by at least 10 times since I last met them!
As usual, my outing was equipped with my DSLR and two lenses. My choice to take this photo with a Sigma 18-200 OS lens together with the built-in flash prove to be wrong. You can see the shadow in the photo caused by the flash hitting the edge of the long fat lens. There’s a term for this which I can’t recall right now. If you know please enlighten me.

The food which was prepared by a catering service was pretty good as well. I absolutely loved the pandan chicken and the refreshing cendol. I guess perhaps I had too many bowls of them otherwise why it was finished in such a quick time? No, the catering service didn’t provide refills. It would have been much better if they had.
The prawns were not bad as well although you need to work a little to get the shells out.

Oh yes, that’s the Mrs of the house, and the hostess of the night. She was cutting the absolutely beautiful birthday cake for all of us. The cake was as beautiful and as cute as their daughter!
Secretly I tell you, I couldn’t help myself but swallowed two pieces of the cake.
It won’t do the house justice if we didn’t have a tour around the house, right or not? After all it was a house warming cum birthday party. You have seen the cake, now let’s invite the house to come onto the stage!

Let’s start with the living room. Oh, perhaps you will say, there’s nothing to shout about. True, I have the same feeling, as it’s not really spacious for the price of this house… which I will tell you later. There was a 32 inch LCD TV on the pretty ordinary looking TV cabinet and nothing much else.
Let’s move to upstairs.

That’s the staircase leading up to upper floor. The feel was really nice as everything was brand new, including the hand railing and wooden flooring.

There was a display cabinet on the upper floor family hall. But what caught my attention was this exercise machine, not sure how do you use it, but now I finally understand the secret to their success… in keeping themselves fit and successful in their undertakings!
Good, I think I need to get one of that at home too.
Now, let’s take a look at the garden. No, no swimming pool and tennis court, yet.

The picture is a little too dark as I didn’t use flash. Didn’t want all the eyes to stare my way. But I guess although it’s dark, you can still see how beautiful was the garden with polished pebbles walkways, and a nice gazebo housed on trimmed grass beds. The gazebo will be a really nice place to relax, have some drinks and of course to blog! Believe me, you will have a lot of inspirations just by sitting under the cool breeze from the fan there!
I believe this spacious garden may cost as much as 40% of the total cost of this semi-detached house which was close to RM1 million, including the renovation expenses.

Last but not least, thanks to Mr. and Mrs. Yuen for the great food and nice house tour.
