LHDN income tax submission
Apr 12th, 2008 by Neo
Have you submitted your income tax form for the year 2007? The deadline for the BE Form submission is the end of this month, that may seems like a long time ahead, but since I will need to go outstation for up to two weeks starting from next week, I am afraid I may not be able to access to the Internet to do the e-Filing.
Last year, I used e-filing. For those including myself who had used e-filing, you will not receive any printed tax return forms anymore as LHDN would expect you to continue using the e-Filing system in 2008. I wanted to do and complete the submission before I fly next week, so I login to the LHDN (inland revenue) e-hasil system a moment ago.

To my surprise, all the links are un-clickable. What the hell was wrong?! Don’t tell me I had caught a virus or malware! I refreshed and reloaded but it was all the same. Then, I thought perhaps I could try their English version and much to my delight, it worked well! Hahaha…
It took me roughly 15 minutes to punch in all the figures. Yes, not much trouble with all the fields as I had done this a couple of times before on printed forms, and believe me, it was much harder in those days. Now, in e-filing, you do not need to do any manual calculation as they are all handled automatically. But, to my horror, the amount I will need to pay comes to a few thousands Ringgit!

My hands are still trembling as I am typing this… I need to think of a trick to reduce that figure!
Anyway, after I logout from the system only I noticed this announcement (in small black fonts, how can you expect us to notice this?) on the site:
e-Filing System Interruption
e-Filing System will experience interruption between 12:01am until 06:00am, Saturday 12 April 2008. During this period, all processes involving Digital Certificate will not be accessable. Please take note.
OMG! Looks like it’s a scheduled downtime. Those people deactivated all the links on the Bahasa Malaysia site, but forgot or lazy to do the same on the English site! Brilliant?!

Thanks for the heads up! Looks like our e-filing is in need of some e-bashing,
JC,
Certainly, but the upgrade to finally use the Internet to do the income tax filing is really great. The whole filing/submission now takes less than 15 minutes. No more hassle going to the LHDN office to queue up half a day, etc.
All calculations are done automatically, no more headache referring to the booklet on doing the confusing calculations.
But, it’s too quick for me to realize how much I will need to pay for “cukai pendapatan” this year.
Blogger need too pay income tax also ka..I am not yet try the e filling. But it is such a good headline also.Last time when i submit the form by posting it. So far i do not require to pay any tax..hahhaha..save..

Abeku,
Tell me how can you skip paying income tax. Share your tips with me and all of us. Thanks first!
Hazel,
Yes, end of April. Plenty of time still…
They owed me a few thousands instead..
Aiya, if you submit your earnings via blogging, I believe you are going to pay even more, haha!
matchfingers,
Oh… go after them. Give them 10 calls a day for a few months, and hopefully within a year, they will refund you.
Jam,
If you earn a lot through blogging, then the sum will become big.
I use the good old way…by post kekeke
Hi,
You might like to try downloading the FREE TAXSAYA. It will help you prepare your return no matter whether you are using the e-Filing, manual filing. It will also help you if your Bahasa Malaysia is not so good, as it includes an English and Chinese interface. The best bit is that it is total FREE!.
