Malawati Hill monkeys
Apr 29th, 2008 by Neo
Yesterday, while having dinner at the F1 Restaurant, I asked if you are prepared to see some really playful monkeys. Well, I guess you listened to me and have all geared up to venture into Kuala Selangor to check out what monkeys are made of them.
It was a fine weekend and a few friends of mine wanted to drive to Kuala Selangor for what else but their famous seafood. But along the way, we detoured to Malawati Hill (locally known as Bukit Malawati) because we have heard so much about the playful monkeys there and had wanted to catch one or two home.

When we arrived at the Malawati Hill park, there was really a lot of monkeys roam freely. I think they have got used to seeing humans and they would not hesitate to come near you if you have food in your hand.

Many people came who came for afternoon exercise at the park brought something for the monkeys. Look at this lucky one… got food and got featured on my blog! Become monkey star liao…

I am not a monkey expert, but Google tells that these monkeys are from the species called Silver Leaf and Long Tail Macaques. The adult Silver Leaf Monkeys are dark-haired but the younger ones sport some tones of light orange-colored hair over their bodies. Compared to the Long Tail Macaques, they are more gentle in nature.

This brother was very generous, he not only brought food for the monkeys, but he also let them climb, jump and sat on his shoulder, head and all over him! Hahaha… he gladly let me take his photos also.
Many visitors brought all sorts of food such as bread, rambutans, bananas and nuts to feed the monkeys. But I think since they are wild, better be careful and stay at a distance when you feed them, otherwise you may end up like the car below.

Haha… look at this car, got attacked and raped! Poor car…
Well, I was not the only one with a DSLR there. Look at this brother who was trying to capture the perfect sunset moments by leaning against the huge cannon.

I think he was using Nikon D200 and Lowepro backpack. One Lowepro backpack costs RM200 and above in case you don’t know. He must be a professional photographer.
Before long, it was getting late and we had to bid farewell to those monkeys and headed down hill for our mouth watering seafood dinner which I will share with you later. Meantime, do check out the beautiful scenery on the Malawati Hill.
