huei,
Go buy. This is a really nice lens because of the wide aperture throughout the whole zoom range. F2.8, very good and very sharp in low light situations.

Hazel,
It's value for money. Not expensive at all if you compare it with the equivalents of Nikon's or Canon's.

Khengsiong,
Oh no. The Sigma 18-200mm is a pretty good lens for general purpose shooting. Wide enough and tele enough for most situations.

Tamron 17-50mm F2.8 will be good for low light situations, such as indoor shoots.

If you want to get the Tamron this year, sell your Sigma la.

I own a Canon 350D with the following lenses:
- kit lens (not longer used :-( )
- Sigma 17-70
- Canon EF 50mm f/1.8

Josh,
I am using Nikon D80. The price should be able to get lower for Tamron 17-50 F2.8. Maybe at the range RM1400 to RM1500.

Khengsiong,
I mean the models, and of course the lenses. Haha...

Yes, you are correct, this is a value for money good lens. Definitely not expensive comparing this with the Nikon's, as Nikkor Zoom Lens 17-55mm F2.8 costs about RM5000. At the Digital Fair recently in Sunway Pyramid, the Nikon booth was selling this beast at RM5500 I think.

I am using D80. And I have got that 50mm f/1.8 already. It's a great lens for portrait especially.

What camera and lenses you are using?

"I fall in love instantly with the model..."
Do you mean the lens or the girl? ;P

OK, joking aside, this lens is NOT expensive. It is value for money. Another good lens is Sigma 17-50mm, but I think it costs slightly more.

By the way, what camera do you own? If you use Nikon D80, you can consider Nikkor 50mm f/1.8. It should be around RM300 and you can get one now. However, if you use D40 or D60, you lose auto focus with this prime.

I would go for the 17-50 F2.8 first. I will check over in KL for the price.
I think could be lower? U are using a Canon right?

Anston,
Need to save for 1 to 2 years! The Nikon's are much better, but need 3 years to save.

Che-Cheh,
Yes, very pricey!

Wuching,
I am hungry now, let's go have some kampua and teh tarik shall we?

Jason,
Maybe it doubles as a Macro lens, but of course the quality will not be as good as a dedicated macro lens such as Tamron SP90. In fact Tamron SP90 can be used as a portrait lens - very good I hear.

So, what lens you are thinking of buying to replace your kit lens?

Funny how if its a tele zooms, they added the word macro behind. Honestly, I am considering of getting a 2.8 fixed lens soon, as my kit lens F4 is pretty slow.
