Malaysia Dog Olympic Day 2008
Jun 30th, 2008 by Neo
How was your weekend? Mine was such a satisfying one because I enjoyed myself tremendously at the Malaysia Dog Olympic Day 2008 at Central Park, Bandar Utama. I planned to go early… 8am something in the morning but due to some delay I arrived late just like last year’s. Anyway, it’s still OK as the weather was absolutely marvellous although it rained a little, the rain only make the weather much better for outdoor outing like this! The dogs loved it, and we loved it!

No, I don’t have a dog. So, basically I went there to take photos of people and of dogs this time. There were a few photographers around too. Some of them were the official photographers for Puppy.com.my while most of them were freelancers.
Let me show you some candid shots. Yeah, the models for today are the dogs!

This dog certainly liked the pool so much that he was reluctant to come up even though his master urged him to come up asap. The dog became a celebrity in an instant because everybody with a camera in hand rushed to capture a photo.

Wow, this one is so huge! Like a giant! Two heads taller than all the other dogs.

What a colorful puppy. Don’t tell me the colors were natural! I guess it must be a result of a hairstylist! Haha…

Look at that Hello Kitty dog! How cute and adorable! I wonder if he packed his lunch in his bag or not. Hahaha…
It is always very difficult to frame a nice photo on an animal. One moment he’s staring at you, but the second you released the shutter, he’s already looking else where.
Anyway, let’s fast forward a bit to see how some of the dogs weave a 60-pole formation. The dog weaving challenge was perhaps one of the most exciting event of the day.

Look how this lady teased the dog with a tennis ball!
I was totally amazed to see how fast could some of the dogs move in and out in between the poles. Mind you, there were 60 poles. If you were to move like that, I assure you that you will need resuscitation before you could even finish it!

The fastest team (the dog and the master) to finish the 60 poles wins, but some just did it leisurely. This young girl and her dog were basically taking a walk down the field.
Check out the following pole weaving video too.
Che-Cheh, were you here? I was searching high and low for you but didn’t even see your shadow nor Chester’s. If you didn’t come, you have missed some of the cutest dogs on earth… and some of the biggest and fiercest dogs on earth too! Chester certainly regretted you didn’t bring him here!

There is in fact such an event in Penang. OK. Maybe not in such a big scale but not bad juga lah. They will have a fancy dress contest. So you can bring your dog and participate actually. It is a 2 day event. The coming sat and Sunday (12 and 13 July 2008). Do come and watch and have fun. More details are available here at the website. http://www.agility-penang.com/index.htm
