Drifting exhibition in Bukit Jalil
Jul 12th, 2008 by Neo
I was in Bukit Jalil today for the National Cheerleading Competition, or more appropriately named CHEER 2008. Oh no, not that I disguised myself and participated in the competition, but more with the intention to check out the cheerleaders and take some photos. However, I was late due to some other commitments and by the time I reached there it was all over.

However, I was glad they had some other activities running which were worth checking out. These activities or events were organized in conjunction with National Sports Complex’s 10th anniversary. One of the attention grabbing activity was the drifting exhibition, which could be a competition too after all.

OK, if you are too young or too old to know what is “drifting”, then allow me to explain:
Drifting refers to a driving technique where the driver intentionally skids the rear tires through turns, preserving vehicle control and a high exit speed. A car is said to be drifting when the rear slip angle is greater than the front slip angle, and the front wheels are pointing in the opposite direction to the turn (e.g. car is turning left, wheels are pointed right or vice versa), and the driver is controlling these factors.
Adapted from Wikipedia.

Many types of cars participated in this drifting exhibition/competition. From the above better looking car, to cars which might not even be road worthy. Anyway, most likely by using lousy cars the drivers didn’t have to worry about scratching the cars while they were performing.

Don’t you think the above two cars were too old for hard core driving like this? The first car didn’t even have a front bumper. Haha… maybe this car was modified from a car from the metal recycling plant.
I just hope the cars were actually equipped with tip top condition engines despite their broken outlook. We certainly didn’t want to see break failures or anything like that which could lead to undesirable circumstances.
After the drift, I headed over to the side stage where a local group (I presume) performed some Malay songs. Stay tuned, I will show you next. Meantime, check out the following drifting video.

The car without the bumper should be a Toyota Corolla DX. Only left one wiper too. Hahaha. Anyway, I drive a Toyota Corolla GL.
That is otai car la..last time my father use to drive its too..
Weilian,
Is it? You are very familiar with Toyota Corolla cars then… I don’t even know it’s a Corolla.
abeku,
Antique car which can only find in museum now. Haha
their car look lousy…and drifting skill look bad too in the video….need more practices
u always have a lot places to go on weekends eh? The pictures look great. But not those old cars hehe
Rice Blogger,
Yes, I agree that the cars look lousy and their drifting skills need some polishing.
hcfoo,
I always bring exciting and interesting events to my readers. Hope you like the pictures and stories.
Rice Blogger said “their cars look lousy”. This is because they don’t want to use their new cars for drifting!
Just imagine you bang your 1-month old Nissan…
wei! stop doing donuts with my car lah!
Khengsiong,
Like that they were taking us for a ride. Go practice with your lousy cars somewhere else, now it was drifting exhibition not practicing time. Use good cars for exhibition. Haha…
Wuching,
You finally show yourself after such a long holiday break! How do you like my drifting skills?
How’s ur drifting skills, Neo?
well, let me correct you.
It’s not a DRIFTING EXHIBITION at all, it was a team drift battle.
for those LOUSY CARs you guys mentioned, they’re beginner yet they can drift in team is prooven they got the SKILL. Yet i dont think you have yours like them, even less than 5%. they are using old car to practice for skill not using NICE or GLAMOUR car to practice for FAME!!
**SO DO NOT CRITIC PPL EVENT, CARS, SKILL and TECHNIQUE that you dont have any either.
Again it is a COMPETITION. Dont assume yourself there what exhibition.
i felt so ashame for you, what if some expert saw this blog, looks like you’re too much proud of yourself.
agreed wih DCMDRIFT…
dont judge other people’s skill, cars, etc that u barely know…
btw, have u guyz seen a video clip in YOUtUBE where 3 cars, same as ‘lousy car’ that u mentioned previously, was drove by 3 professinal drivers in JAPAN?….if never, try type ke70 in youtube, than comment in here, since u so ‘expert’ in critism….im not dare or challange u Mr NEO, but im asking u to do so….
earn respect by respecting others…cheers!
what? no nissan silvia s13- the king of drift cars? a pity.
still, it wouldve been nice to have been there to compose those pics.
jam,
My drifting skill is superb. Can I try with your Honda Civic?
My drifting skill is superb - no comment
Can I try with your Honda Civic? - check back what different between drift, draft and slide….wakakakaka civic drifting!!!!!(no insult to the owner of the civic)
hahhah what a joke, honda civic in drift scene!! We’ll hope to see it anyway.
There’s Nissan silvia on that day i dont think you see it way you’re in the cheer thinggy, so dont be smart alright ppl!
Poor people… how you can say thats a “LOUSY”car?
Civic drift? Hahaha… this is the most… what can I say to describe it… huh! Nevermind, for your information, we are MALAYSIAN drifter… we don’t drift using FAME car! Just bring your Civic to the town… let’s see if babes attract to your ride or drift machine behind yours… You can just say “my drifting skills is superb”… hey, everybody can say that… don’t just critique… that’s is what we call “DORIFUTO KA SPIRITS”.
You don’t see or maybe you pretend not see the Silvia… R32… Cefiro A31… Laurel C33… What poor eyes you have. Hahaha.
Thanx to DCMDRIFT and proudKE70owner… we are proud to be Malaysian drifters… No discrimination.
Honda Civic isn’t a suitable car for drifting? Hmm… how come? Mind the drift sifu share with me why? Thanks yeah!
Look like we got some fanatics here!
yeah, i went there to see see around 4pm++ cause , just after finish swim with friends at bukit jalil there… lol
Mr. Neo..
i dun think you know anything about drift… yet dun comment about cars and drift. Since you can ask about civic drift, why dun you dare urself to hoop in a KE70 (as u said not road worthy) try from uphill to down hill in genting or cameron? Then you judge urself…..
Action speaks louder than words, not words speak louder than action.
If u need an academy, do not hesitate to shout “Chic Killer” at the drift scene… then someone will answer you.
I can’t stop laughing by reading this so called “blog” hahahaha… what a shame for the writer to wrote such thing about drift n the cars. just a quick question… what’s your ride anyway? Saga? Waja? Vios? Civic? Satria Neo? (none of it is my favorite) and I want to say that… the car I mentioned b4 is lousy and so plastic. I also think that your car can’t even reach a speed of 160kmh and to all the lousy car you saw, they can reach 160kmh while using 4th gear easily. Can your glamor car do that? Ooppss… I forgot, you must be using an auto car. Hahahaha..
Oh what a shame by making a fool of yourself, you don’t have the knowledge to critic about it since you are at ZERO knowledge, and you pick the drift meaning from Wikipedia? hahahahahaha.
I just can’t stop laughing… hahahahaha…
I’m out~ Iwill never visit here anymore…
Mr. Neo…
No comment??? or speechless??? Learn a lesson before commenting buddy…
Dude, Civic drift? If you are doing a show, please contact me. I would love to snap the pics of its crashing the barrier or whatever it is.
Civic drift? You must be one-of-a-kind if you are doing one!
Dude, have you ever been inside the ‘lousy car’? I mean the drift spec not the standard one. The drift spec ‘lousy car’ is wayyy much better than your current car. Im talking bout performance-wise.Campro CPS? ivtec? DOHC?Or whatever it is, the ‘lousy car’ still will tapao you man..
See if your car can beat the ‘lousy car’ on a Genting road.
Please dont bother come to a drift event next time if this is kinda statement you are making in your blog. Its just so wrong. Plus so lame.
Respect had to be earned. Here’s a good example that you can study with.
