Cheer 2008 cheerleading competition
Jul 15th, 2008 by Neo
Do you still remember that I was at Bukit Jalil last Saturday for the Cheer 2008 cheerleading competition? Nevermind, if you didn’t remember but the important thing is I missed the Saturday competition but I went back on the next day! This time I wasn’t early too but it was good enough to catch a few cheerleading teams performing their best in executing jumps, chants, stunts, and cheers!
Let me show you some glorious stunts!

Wow, isn’t that amazing! Flying girls!
I guess this was the only time where you see girls flying like that. Cheer 2008 was Malaysia’s ninth inter-school cheerleading competition. This time, it was jointly organised by The Star Youth2 and Silkygirl with the support of the Ministries of Youth and Sports, and Education.

One legged stunt. Nope, it doesn’t look very complicated but I am sure you won’t be able to do this. Not even on a level ground, so let alone on someone’s head… or shoulder… So, put your hands together for the Cellors team!
The Shirtliff team did pretty well too.

The team’s name is weird, not too sure what meaning it carries. Anyway, their girly stunt was amazing and that won the cheers and applause from the crowd.

Another notable performance which I must mention is the Charm team. I think their cheerleaders were absolutely great and the team was in another rank compared to the rest. If I wasn’t mistaken they were the senior team members.
Now, if you thought the Shirtliff, the Cellors and even the Charm are good, wait until you see the all-boys team!

Oh yes, we have all-boys cheerleaders too! Too bad I was capturing them on video with my compact camera and didn’t have a proper picture except this one where you bet it right… they won a prize too. If I was correct, it should be some sort of new comers prize!

The competition was won by the Shirtliff team from SMK Seri Bintang Utara. It was the only team who bagged 3 prizes and without any deduction in points, so I heard.
The top prize was fabulous… it consist of RM5,000 cash, RM500 McDonalds vouchers, Siklygirl products, and full scholarship from SEGI College for all the team members. Oh, the team’s teacher will get a brand new LG phone too!
Cheers… and do check back later for a video or two. It takes some time to upload a 30MB video, especially when you are using a Streamyx broadband connection.

Wah..wah..wah..lucky guy…that is why i was wondering why there are no girls on your first post..up skirt you…But why the photo quality a bit disappointed?
Abeku says the photo quality disappointing. Guess it is time you get a 70-200mm f2.8
Abeku,
I am disappointed with the photos too. The actions were very fast and the spot I was at was pretty challenging to shoot any good photos too. Anyway, stay tuned, more good pics coming!
Khengsiong,
So, when you are getting one 70-200mm f2.8? We buy together, can get better price.

Emily Khoo,
Blitzerz… nope, I don’t think I have it. I was there fairly late, so I guess I must have missed them.
Charm is the National Team of course they are good. They represent Malaysia!
My cousin was in Cheer ‘08 from Team Dynamitez. Did you get to snap any of her team’s photos?
[...] The judges for the hip-hop dance competition were awesome too! This was especially true for the handsome dude and the pretty girl beside him… anyone know their names? They guy was the emcee for the Cheer 2008 cheerleading competition. [...]
