Hop2DaBeat 08 street dance competition photos and videos
Jul 27th, 2008 by Neo
Where did you think I go last Friday? Of course I went to the most happening place for the youth and it was none other than Sunway Pyramid open area where the final rounds of Hop2DaBeat 08 was held. This was in fact an open street dance competition and was organized by the 12th INTIMA STACT Club of INTI International University College.
That is about as much information as I can gather about this Hop2DaBeat 08. But nevertheless, I have tonnes of photos and videos… and let me share some of the more interesting ones with you.

Firstly, we had the opening dance from 3 performers from California Fitness - the fitness center by Jackie Chan. These people are really fit and fast! The girl has a tad little bit of fat at her waist level though.

The judges for the hip-hop dance competition were awesome too! This was especially true for the handsome dude and the pretty girl beside him… anyone know their names? They guy was the emcee for the Cheer 2008 cheerleading competition.

This was the SEXY team. Their performance was on of the most exciting ones that night… although I believe they were still under 18 and were competing in the Secondary School category. Check out a video of them at the end of the post.

Let’s just call them the “Mario Brothers” team… this is simply because I couldn’t recall what their team name was! They tried a few hilarious characters and the most amusing ones were some characters from the Mario Brothers, and thus that’s how they got their name here. Haha…

These boys were pretty wild too! I certainly love their energetic and fast moves which got the climax of the night to the max!
By this time, the crowd was simply huge… and the place was beginning to warm up too. Photographers were everywhere but the shooting condition wasn’t very ideal. Very little lighting and I have to direct my external flash to the stage which produced very harsh shadows. Any photography gurus have any suggestion how to best shoot in conditions like this?

One thing I hate the most the night has to be the huge speaker at the edge of the stage. It simply served nothing but got in the way of my photos! I hate it, why the stage people just had to put it there… couldn’t they put it on the ground or at the side a bit?!
Anyway, let’s see a few more pictures before we call it a day.

Girly street dance with their chicken stance.

Check out some videos…

I don’t know the emcee girl name but the guy is Jien. He’s married to the famous VJ Sarah Tan. Jien usually host EPL show in ESPN/Star Sports.
The pretty girl was looking at you when she was supposed to look at the performance.
