Vienna Bagels at One Utama
Sep 27th, 2008 by Neo
It was a lot of hard work taking pictures of the cosplay girls at the PlayStation 3 launching. So after all those tiring hard work, I just had to reward myself with some good food… As I was walking to find something to snacks to eat, the pinkish word “bagels” caught my eyes.

This was the first time I saw them here in One Utama, so they must have just opened not too long ago. If my memory serves me right, they were at the location where Auntie Anne’s used to be.
I just couldn’t help myself but to buy a pack of 6 bagels. Since they were having a promotion, I got the 6 pieces at RM8 only… instead of the usual price of RM14.

I didn’t know what flavor to choose as there are too many… Katsuo, Cheez & Chivez, Roselle, Le Chocolat Fromage, Cinnawhite, Italiano, and etc. As usual, I simply asked the waitress to choose the best ones for me.
OMG, don’t you think the bagels look uncannily like donuts - Big Apple Donuts, or J.Co Donuts? Well, bagels sure look like donuts, but instead of being fried, they are baked. The bagels have a chewy but dense texture versus the lighter donuts. I guess it will suit those who like denser doughnut, where there are more bites to it.

The bagels look so appetizing… I couldn’t wait until I got home to eat them. I went to a nearby bench, took some pictures for the blog (under glances from curious passers-by) and dug in immediately after that.
The texture of the fresh bagels were soft and chewy, although compared to donuts, they were slight harder still. They are best eaten fresh, but if you left them overnight, you need to warm them. Just chuck them into the microwave and heat on high for 10 seconds.

I am not sure if their promotion is still on, but on normal days, one bagel costs RM3, 3 bagels for RM7.50 and 6 bagels for RM14. Bored of donuts? Now, it is time for you to give Vienna Bagels a try!
Note 1: Not sure if bagels are originated from Foo Chow Kompia?
Note 2: Does this post qualify as a mouth watering post? Perhaps not quite…
