Apparel photos for Malaysia Online Boutique
Apr 6th, 2009 by Neo
My life is so boring and mundane I think. There is nothing interesting happening most of the time… so was the whole of last week until the weekend when a photo shooting opportunity jumped my way.
I was glad to shoot for Irenelim Fashion again… at least I could have something to blog about on Hot Screensaver.

I think this online boutique in Malaysia is no longer too stranger to most of you. They have been making appearances in a number of websites and blogs all these while, and I have shown you some photos I took for them some time ago. Click here to refresh your memory and to see how beautiful is Miss Cindy, the previous model.
This time we have Miss Angeline as the model.

Miss Angeline is certainly beautiful and quite professional, well… in the way how she presented herself. She arrived at the location timely and she brought along some fashion accessories as well to compliment those that were provided by Irene Lim.
I was pleasantly surprised when she told me that she has never taken up any photo shooting assignments like this before. A good start for her I guess.

You can see in these pictures that we employed a lot of cute toys to bring a change to the perhaps otherwise boring photos. I hope we didn’t overdo. Haha… what do you think?
Like the puppy soft toy and the heart-shaped photo frame?

I personally like the puppy and how the picture was framed, but afterward I realized the puppy was tilted too much and can’t see its eyes. Too bad, I only realized this after we have wrapped up the shooting, otherwise should re-take the photo.
Oh, any idea what’s the cute little blue hairy puff toy is called? Is it a character from a Manga or something like that?

Hello Kitty in action!
All right, I think sufficient to show you these photos first. Some photos may not appear on Irenelim’s fashion site and so you must be real glad you could see them here, first hand and fresh from my DSLR!
Hope you enjoyed my photos and do drop any comments you may have. Oh, sign up Feedburner feed please, I have yet to reach the 1000 subscribers milestone. Help me achieve it! Thanks yeah!

Hey I think it’s a good idea to incorporate things like toys in the photos. She’s pretty leh.
Online Boutique shop ler, can show this to my office “ru hua” liao!
Haha…
Oh, the toys are a nice touch! Yeah, agree with you the puppy was tilted too much. Wah, so professional this nice model! : )
Sorry in advance, but here are some advice from me:
The softtoys is not a good idea. It steals attention.
If it is a botique shoot, try not to include too many distractive items. focus on the dress. The dress is great.
if it is model shot, try not to include too distractive items, especially the dress has distractive design and pattern.
if it is not jewelries shot, remove it. It is those tiny details that steal focuses.
Work on the background. It looks a curtain of your house rather than a good non-distractive backdrop; that staircase of yours, avoid at all cost.
Try shoot with big aperture to give the background stunning blur. if not, photoshop it and blur the background.
The model is great, try to work with her a few more rounds, and also, when you shoot, focus on the eye contact.
You can always refer point #8 in my “How to shot outdoor events” post for more details http://www.calvinstudio.net/?p=203
it is just a partial model shooting tips. I will write a new page on “How to pose your model” some other time
Eh… Calvin’s tips are good. Next time ask Irene Lim to sponsor a studio lah…
I do agree with softtoys steal attention. Just the pretty girl will be fine.
Also, be very careful how you trim/frame your model, never trim at the model’s join (elbow, hip, wrist, finger, etc). The last photo trimmed correctly, and appears more natural.
The model also need to improve on the makeup, the colour doesn’t stand up, apparently her makeup looks kinda pale.
The model may also need to consider redo the hair colouring, the colour seems was done at least two three months ago, causing obvious partial black, partial gold. Looks awkward.
hey nice photo shoots you got there..
great idea with inclusion of the soft toys.. =)
Che-Cheh,
Oh yes, so do the photos and beautiful clothing entice you to buy a couple from Irenelim?
Anston,
Haha… your colleagues you mean? They like to shop online?
foongpc,
Glad you like the photos.
Calvin Foo,
Thanks for the advice. But I kind of feel it’s great to include some accessories or even soft toys to make the photo more vibrant and colorful, otherwise in some cases it will be too dull or plain. Agree with the background, it could be nicer, especially if we have nicer backdrop or shoot at a scenic place. But can’t help it because we did it indoor quickly… time and resources do not permit.
Yes, larger aperture should help. You are really very detail la…
Khengsiong,
Irene says open a boutique is better wor.
Jayce,
Yeah soft toy vs pretty model!
kenwooi,
