Fong Keow Bah Kut Teh Klang
Jun 14th, 2009 by Neo
Ask anyone where is the best place for Bah Kut Teh, the answer is most likely to be Klang. And the best place in Klang for this is perhaps Fong Keow Restaurant.

I have been here a couple of times, last time was perhaps not less than 2 years back. However, if you asked me how to come here, I won’t be able to guide you… I don’t know how to get here exactly! My friend brought me here last week, and what I did here were just to eat and take photos.

The interior of the restaurant was pretty neat, and they employed a range of furniture which looked quite classic. Round marble tables and wooden chairs. Not air-conditioned, so I must have sweated two buckets that afternoon.

Nice decoration on the wall.
While I was busy checking out the place and shooting, my friends placed our order. It was a late afternoon, so not many patrons, and our order was quickly taken and food was served fairly quickly too.

Chinese tea to accompany our lunch. It was such a hot afternoon and small ceramic cups? No, not for me, I had to ask for ice and bigger cups!

That’s the star of the day! Our bah kut teh. It was such a big bowl, but unfortunately I wasn’t so much a pork person, so my friends had most of it. Yes, weird hor, how come we came all the way for bah kut teh in Klang, but I don’t really like pork?

Anyway, we also had some green vegetables and asam fish. The asam fish was absolutely awesome. For me, I think I prefer the asam fish compared to the pork. Nope, disappointingly, no photos of the fish as I was too indulged in it until I couldn’t take any proper photos.
What’s your favorite restaurant for bah kut teh?

WoW! Very nice restaurant! Haven’t been there before. Seldom go Klang. If you ask me go there, sure get lost one. Haha!
Btw, I’ve got an award for you. Come and collect it : )
The bak kut teh looks absolutely gorgeous! Hehe though I don’t have any fav. Seldom eat ma.
So is this store opened by Lin Foong Jiaw, Jackie Chan’s wife?
My favorite bak kut teh restaurant was the one ‘under the bridge’ in Klang. I used to go there when I worked in Shah Alam. Not sure if it is still open.
this is the one in tmn rasna? somewhere nearby the bkt teluk pulai? the signboard seems so familar..hmmph!
btw, the shop name sounds very unpromising. lol.
boss,
Good idea, but even better record videos. Not too sure about SS3, SS2 PJ I know la. Is SS3 located next to SS2?
foongpc,
Thanks a lot for the prestigious award! Tonight can’t sleep liao.
Che-Cheh,
Mee too, I don’t like pork at all.
Khengsiong,
I heard a lot of good words about this “under the bridge” bkt place. But haven’t been there before… If I recalled this should have asked my Klang friend to bring me there instead of this Fong Keow.
xin,
I have no idea at all… I am a complete stranger in Klang! Haha…
Eh… what lens did you use to take the first photo? Kinda wide…
Khengsiong,
I used Sigma 18-200mm lens. I think it wasn’t at 18mm also, I should have zoomed in slightly, perhaps at 25mm thereabouts when I took that shot.
best BKT experience is the one underneth the Klang town bridge, near to the Police Station. Only the soup, one piece of meat, and nothing else. Simply slurpingly good.

A definitely overrated restaurant I would say.
I feel like I was conned when the bill came out RM36 when I order 1 person bak kut teh, a plate of seafood toufu(8 pieces which the size is like eraser) and a yao mak(vegetable). My friend said that because we speak Chinese instead of hokkien therefore they chop us.
Besides that, they charge extra RM3 for golden mushroom for a single person bak kut teh which only cost RM10 that make up the total of RM13 for the whole pot. The taste is not that fantastic either and I consider it edible only. Seafood toufu which cost RM9 where I can easily purchase it readily at the market and it’s not like it’s homemade or anything special. Yao mak which is stingy in their oyster sauce that cost RM 8 where I can get it in PJ for a merely RM6.
Service is bad when I request for 1 extra rice and they gave me 2 rice which I have trouble asking them to take back. Then, they charge for 2 extra rice which I only notice after I left the building.(Well, I don’t really blame them for this as it might be mistake but guys do double check the receipt after you paid.)
This restaurant is now officially in my blacklisted restaurant.
