Sarawak noodles in KL
Jun 19th, 2009 by Neo
I am sure by now Sarawak noodles is no longer an alien to most of you. You should have at least heard of the so called Sarawak noodles if you haven’t tried it. We Sarawakians call it kampua.

It’s not too difficult to find kampua here in KL, but sadly none of them taste anything remotely similar to what the authentic kampua should taste. I grow up eating kampua in Sibu so rest assured I know how kampua should taste hahaha…
Knowing I haven’t had a nice plate of kampua for a long time, a friend brought me to a newly opened place for a “trial” the other day!

As soon as I smelled the fragrant noodles, I know this has to be the best you can find in KL! Haha, true enough it tasted very much like those you have in Sibu! Really nice… in fact, it’s so nice that the evening itself I went back to the same place and packed not one but two, for my dinner and supper!

Here, see these photos for proof, no joke at all!
Okay, I lied. I did pack two packs home, large ones at RM4.50 each. But I didn’t do that on the same day, it was a couple of days after that… and while one pack was my dinner the other wasn’t for me. Hahaha…
The stall is operated by a Foochow speaking couple from Sibu! Go give it a try! It’s located in a newly renovated coffee shop at the end of Jalan Puteri 7/11, Bandar Puteri, Puchong.
Now you know where to have nice Sarawak kampua… come here for breakfast, lunch and dinner! Not sure what time they close, perhaps you can stay here for supper too!

Walau eh, foochow people is such an entrepreneur. Go all the way to KL to open kampua stall. I am so proud to be a foochow, haha!
jam,
You are right. Faster come to support him.
Seems to be quite plain – lots of noodle, a few slices of pork, no veggie…
I still don’t know what is the difference btw kampua and kon noh mee(wan tan mee). Look same to me.
Where is Bandar Puteri? near Giant there?
oh now only i know u r from sarawak boss! and the noodle portion is very big!!!!
WOW….I must go try!! And yeah, I really don’t know you are from Sibu.
Btw, where is this Jalan Puteri 7/11? Is it near Puteri Mart? or near to Giant that side?
Khengsiong,
And it’s ultra delicious!
Che-Cheh,
Yes, Giant is located in Bandar Puteri. IOI -> Tesco -> Giant.
nic,
Boss, yeap I am a Sarawakian.
dragoncity,
Not Puteri Mart side. From the LDP highway, you turn left. Giant will be on your left. Take the flyover (means you go straight over the traffic light), and you will see Colombia Asia Hospital on your left. Jalan Puteri 7/11 is right behind this hospital, located within a few rows of shophouses. I think is nearest to the main road row.
Huh? You also from Sibu?
Thanks for letting us know because Sibu people always boast about their kampua noodles and I have never tasted it before! Really authentic this one? Must try!
So much noodles! You order extra noodles or what?
But too much noodles, too much carbs, I want less carbs, more protein. how?
foongpc,
Yes, I am from Sibu. Want more protein? Order cow milk from the coffee shop.
Is it remotely possible his kampua is better than my kopi tiam one meh? i cannot believe it. If is true i must fly over n check them out n learn their secret. Business not so good recently. Ppl jus order noodle kosong..sign of the times hahahahah . sigh
Kang Pua Mee is almost as good as Kuching KOLO MEE
I’ve been wondering around looking for kampua but I just couldn’t find one here in KL. I managed to find kolok mee in ampang though, operated by kuchingite.
hurm .. since you mentioned there is a place like that, I shall go there tomorrow! Open from what time to what time ah? Mana tau can go tonight?
Bengbeng,
I must fly over to your place to learn your secrets, see why your noodle kosong is so good.
yogi,
I thought kolo mee is kampua noodle with soy sauce?
cibol,
Give it a try. I am not sure if they are open in the weekend and until how late into the night. My advise is go on normal meal hours on the weekdays and they should be open.
now i know hwere to find kampua when i’m at kl!
manai… ha ha, how about pie nuk? haha
