End of the World… Scared or Not?!!!
Dec 2nd, 2009 by Samurai Jack
Last weekend I finally managed to watch 2012, the movie which is supposed to provide an insight on the fearful doomsday that will bring an abrupt end to you, me and the rest of the world. At least that was my expectation. Ah, I had such high hopes.

In fact, the effort that had gone into promoting the movie held more substance and depth than the movie itself. The Institute for Human Continuity (IHC) is part of a marketing and promotional campaign for the blockbuster. After visiting the IHC website, I was convinced that the world governments were in conspiracy and a secret institution for human race preservation actually existed. Kudos to Hollywood creativity!

Disappointingly, this movie was nothing more than a melting pot of sound effects and visual thrills. If the intention was to send a message to humanity about the impending apocalypse, it sure didn’t deliver that effect. The movie lacks script, plot development and supporting story line. ‘Best’ scene ever was when Jackson Curtis (John Cusack) realised that it was up to him, and only him to save the world. So imagine this scenario…
- You have the entire survival of mankind in your hands.
- You have less than a minute to act on it.
- And you decide to play romantic kissy-face with your ex-wife while the world is waiting… tick-tock, tick-tock (and of course this is accompanied by super sappy music in the background).
If you wish to be mindlessly entertained by mass destruction on a grand scale (think gigantic tsunamis, powerful earthquakes and hailing asteroids) then you would probably like this movie. For those who have watched 2012, do you think it is worth all that hype?

I watched this just for the special effects and not the storyline so I was not too disappointed! I’ll give it 3 out of 5 stars. Just average : )
If really End,they still got mood to act movie 2012..=D…
I don’t plan to watch this movie for I know this movie is dead meat. Haha Will just wait for Astro. Keke I’m more to story line than special effects so why waste money leh.
I quite enjoyed this movie coz it was a no-brainer highly predictable type, quite the opposite from Da Vinci code where it makes you think until you almost lose your mind. Good for a relaxing night out after a stressful week at work.
Funniest part was the Radio Announcer Charlie doing the animation scene and the T-Rex swallowing him up!
It’s too bad, even with big name stars like John “Say Anything” Cusack and Danny “I’m too old for this shit”…Lethal Weapon)” Glover couldn’t save the movie…but I thought that Paris Hilton did a great job playing her pseudo-self in the film…until the point where she drowned…wait, wait, wait…was that Paris??? hmmmm…????? Maybe it was her Chihuahua named Tinkerbell that was in the movie…I’m confused!!??? Anyway I digress. What movie were we talking about? Ha ha ha!
I watched it too.
For my opinion, I did feel the computer effects very good..
Just the character development for this movie a bit “Kua Zhang”..
I like the movie. It’s good!
