Funny Signs in India
Dec 8th, 2009 by Samurai Jack
Here are some funny signs that I have managed to capture with my camera during a recent trip to India.

To deter drinking and driving, these wise words of advice were displayed by the roadside of Uttarkashi in Northern India. Better known as a site for Hindu pilgrimages, alcohol availability in this town is about as common as a finding a pack of Dorito’s in a Malaysian supermarket.
Oh…oh…I got one for beer: “AFTER BEER, DRIVE NOT SO CLEAR”
And one for wine too: “AFTER WINE, DRIVE IN CROOKED LINE”

Short and sweet, this one delivers the message in a single breath.

A prominent signage at the entrance of Central Park in Connaught Place, New Dehli. Note the incredibly long list of prohibited activities. Some of which continue to baffle me.
SHOOTING – Shoot what? Like shooting someone with a gun? So does that mean shooting a person outside the premises of the park is allowed?
WASHING OF CLOTHES – Guess this only happens in India, huh?
CYCLE CHAIR, TABLE AND OTHER FURNITURE – Can somebody tell me what a cycle chair is? And why would anyone bring tables and furniture to the park anyway? Must be to keep Mad Hatter from throwing his famous tea party.

This picture was taken outside a temple where shoes had to be left before entering. Sure wish I had an extra pair of eyes to leave outside making sure no one steals my shoes.

I personally thought this one was funny, although a tad bit sexist. (Picture obtained from this site) A complement to Neo’s earlier post on the brain. “Now shut up woman, and let your man drive!”
