A dog is a man’s best friend …. so the saying goes.

Or maybe it’s the other way around, at least where women are concerned.

After all, we now see pet owners pampering their four-legged friends with trips to the doggy saloon and expensive chow. All paid for with their hard-earned cash. Ask any of them, and they’ll tell you it’s worth it in return for the dogs’ unconditional love.

If the dogs belong to celebrities, then, the pampering level goes way up. Often, these pets become more than mere canine friends. They become a part of their owner, and thus, enjoy all the glitz as well.

In the case of Sigourney Weaver’s dog, Petals had her own wedding ceremony! And Mariah Carey had her personal vet flown from L.A. to New York to help deliver her dog’s puppy.

As for Paris Hilton and Rachel Hunter, their pooches are living in style in their own crib. You see, Paris Hilton spent a fortune on a mini-mansion that resembles her own for her precious dogs. The doghouse has Philippe Starck furniture, heating, air conditioning and a black crystal chandelier.

Rachel Hunter had her doghouse designed by La Petit Maison. A scaled down version of her home, it has an interior with terra-cotta floors, air-conditioning, TVs and stereo systems.

Jessica Alba’s dogs,Sid and Bowie has it quite good too. Although she did not get a customized doghouse, she did get HER house made ‘dog-friendly’. There’s a pecial dog room with a bed and indoor/outdoor access to a special lawn made of eco-friendly material that functions as the dogs’ playground.

And because their owners are used to the best, these doggies are also decked out in designer labels like Little Lily and gets accessories like doggy carrier bag, bed and toys from brands like Jimmy Chew, Pawda, Sniffany & Co. and Chewy Vuitton (incidentally, Paris’s doghouse has a closet to keep all those designer pooch wear).

But what will blow your mind though, is the fact that some of these dogs have inheritance coming to them. Betty White (of Golden Girls’ fame) is set to leave her estate worth $5 million to her pets while Oprah Winfrey follows in Majel Roddenberry’s footsteps. Oprah has set up a trust fund of $30 million for her dogs.

And here is Rihanna with her pooch. Wouldn’t you like to be hugged like that by Rihanna?

In 2008, Majel, wife of Star Trek creator, Gene Roddenberry’s; had alloted $4 million for the upkeep of her dogs after her death.

And not to mention all those spoiled muds I’ve seen in my condo, in cars and restaurants.
