Street House

Being lazy in nature, I do not like to venture far for my daily meals and salute those who would drive to Ipoh for dimsum for breakfast and then back to Penang or KL for lunch and dinner.
While it’s true that my place has a number of coffee shop, fast food outlets and mamak restaurants, occasionally I hunger for a place where it’s also nice on the eye. It is thus, fortunate for me that Street House opened for business last year.

If you are ever in Equine Park, Serdang for the day and would like to grab lunch someplace nice, you might want to consider this place.
While prices aren’t dirt-cheap, I do find it reasonable and the food tastes good too. My favourite being the Vietnamese Lemongrass Chicken Rice. I would say I order this a good 70% of the time.

And to cater to fussy tastebuds, the restaurant has a good mix of Asian and Western food items. Not too hungry? There are toasts or desserts that you can consider.

I haven’t quite tried everything on the menu though despite being there oodles of times but I will tell you that I cannot complain about the following:
- Curry Chicken Rice
- Chicken Burger
- Fish and Chips
- Grilled Fish in Herb Butter/Sauce
- Caesar Salad
- Mushroom Soup
Beverage-wise, there’s tea, coffee, milkshakes, soft drinks and beer. Again, not over-priced but I wish they provide free drinking water instead of charging 80 cents for a glass.

I like the decor which makes kampong style looks quite chic. There’s the concrete counter and floor, wooden panelling and big wooden tables with booth-style benches that can sit 4 people in a row comfortably.

To keep up with the times, there are also about three or four flat-screen TVs so that you can enjoy some sports or occasionally, documentaries. Free WIFI is also available so you can still update your Facebook page as you enjoy your meal.

Service here is so-so since they have a number of foreign workers so communication may be hard. It’s easy enough to fill in your order slip and hand it over to them, then wait for the food (doesn’t take long either), but making a request for sauce or cutlery requires patience. But I’ve certainly not encountered any bad service here (touch wood!).

Have I brought friends here? Yes, several of them in fact, and no complaints so far.
