Beautiful Beaches of the World

There is nothing I love better than heading down to the beach for a relaxing dip in crystalline waters, snorkeling and diving to enjoy the marine life, or just plain sunbathing.

Here’s my list of my 5 favourite beaches that I hope to tick of my vacation list sometime in the future.

1. Bora Bora, Polynesia

Calm water beaches, crystal clear temperate waters surrounded by green palm trees and an extinct volcano in the distance make up the beaches of Bora Bora. The city is surrounded by a lagoon, making the water of the beaches resemble that of a swimming pool. Sounds just like Heaven on Earth, and not by long-shot.

2. Galapagos, Equador

I could never leave out the Galapagos Island beaches in my list. With it’s amazing biodiversity and natural beauty, this makes it high on my list.

On its many beaches you will be able to see baby turtles, practice snorkeling, watch iguanas and enjoy the sea lion colony.

3. Hateruma, Japan

Located in the Southernmost inhabited island of Japan, and with only 600 inhabitants, this island sounds like a perfect retreat for a secluded holiday. Coupled with a beach that has beautiful flowers (such as orchids and roses) adorning it, it also ranks among the best beaches in Japan.

Also, this is the perfect location to visit, with my love of astronomy because 84 of the 88 star constellations can be seen from Hateruma.

4. Poipu, Hawaii

Located at the Bay of Kauai Island is one of the most attractive beaches in the world. What’s great about this location is its beautiful golden sands and crystal clear waters. Poipu is a beach for everyone, with a shallow area for those with kids, a deeper area with gentle waves for peace and tranquility and in the west for diving and snorkeling.

5. Pulau Sapi, Malaysia

And right in my own backyard, here’s a lovely beach I can get to without even having to take a plane.

Located just off the coast of my hometown, Kota Kinabalu, reaching the island takes only a 10 to 20 minute boat ride. Pulau Sapi (or Sapi Island) provides some lovely white, sandy beaches with some crystal clear waters.
