Beautiful Terraces in Perth

During my recent trip to Perth Australia, I visited the suburb of East Perth which had some of the most beautiful inner city housing I have ever seen. I was told that East Perth was previously a dump but was revitalised by the WA government. They obviously did a good job of it, just take a look at these photos.

This is the water bay which some of the houses look out to. It flows out to that part of the Swan River where Burswood Casino is located. In the background is Perth CBD…. imagine waking up to such views every morning

These are the sidewalks which are all beautifully landscaped. You can pretty much walk the whole of East Perth and marvel at the beauty of inner city living at its best. East Perth is just a few minutes from the Perth CBD yet feels so homely and clean.

The houses enjoy rear car entrance which leads into a double lock-up garage for each unit. Even the rear lanes are beautifully paved.

This was a house that was sold recently. It’s a 3 Bedroom & 2 bathroom terrace. Notice the signboard says “Green Title”. That means it’s not strata title. Each unit has their individual land block and you do not need to pay strata/maintenance fees on it.

Take a close look here. Yep that’s a block of apartments which join to the terrace houses. It’s quite amazing how the design just blends in. The apartments are not overly imposing at all and you don’t really notice the difference unless you look closely.

The remarkable thing is that the design of each terrace house is unique. It’s not like in Malaysia where every terrace house is homogeneous. High marks to the architects for their creativity.

Some of the houses are 3-storey while others are 2-storey. Some even have attics. It all adds to the design.
So how much are these houses worth? Well I wasn’t busybody enough to call up the real estate agent, but I was told the ones fronting the water would fetch north of $2 million aussie. Not bad for an ex-dump site!
