Citadines Sukhumvit Hotel, Bangkok
Nov 13th, 2010 by Frog Prince
For our last night in Bangkok, we chose Citadines Sukhumvit 8. This means that the hotel is at Sukhumvit 8 and it is not to be confused with other Citadines around the area like Citadines Sukhumvit 16.
While the first two hotels are more like boutique hotel in their concept, Citadines Sukhumvit 8 is a mix of service apartment and hotel. It caters to both short-term as well as long-staying guests and provides facilities like a small diner, swimming pool (rooftop, no less), Laundromat and a small gymnasium.

Just like Fusion Suites, there are two Mac computers for guest usage and the reception staff speaks good English. However, I find the staff at Fusion Suites to be friendlier.
Location-wise, it’s some distance away from the Nana BTS station but the hotel provides free tuk-tuk rides to and from the station so you can save your energy for exploring Bangkok. But if you choose to walk from the station to the hotel, then it will probably take you about 10 minutes. Along the way, you will pass other hotels, apartments, restaurants and yes, massage centres.
The feel here is more typical hotel as you see carpeted floors, artwork on the wall and narrow corridors with rooms on both sides. But while I cannot wax lyrical over the decor, I am certainly impressed with all the things provided with the room.
There’s the bed, the bathroom and toilet, a sofa and table, kitchen area, work area and of course, TV. For privacy, you can close up the bed from the rest of the room using the sliding partition.

And within the kitchen area, you will find all you need to make your own meal. There are cutleries, pots and pans, dishwashing liquid, kitchen appliances such as microwave, induction cooker with hood, toaster cum fryer and kettle (each with its own manual) and even a chopping board! Everything including the kitchen sink!
All these gave me an urge to rush to the nearest 7/11 and buy instant noodles, microwave dinners and bread just so I can use the items. However, because time did not permit, I did not get to indulge.
If you look closely at the last picture, you would also notice a red fire extinguisher next to the kitchen sink. I suppose this comes in handy if the item you are heating in the oven caught fire. Perhaps a previous experience made the extinguisher as necessary item.
What I like is that they include maps of Bangkok and even an umbrella for guests’ convenience. It’s these little extras that make them stand out among the many interesting hotels that Bangkok has to offer.
