Eureka 88 Melbourne

One of the more interesting sights I saw in Melbourne was the Eureka 88 which at 297 metres is the third tallest building in Australia (Q1 in Australia’s Gold Coast is the tallest, while Sydney’s Centrepoint Tower is the second tallest). This is not the ideal photo of Eureka 88 but it’s one of my better ones… Eureka88 is the building on the far left.

From the viewing deck upstairs and looking down onto Southgate which is one of the landmark buildings in Melbourne;s Southbank precinct.
This is one of my favorite photos. I took a photo of a portion of the building from another portion and it shows some reflection and mirror effect.
Now that cube out there is called The Edge. Eureka 88 has this unique viewing experience where you can get out of the building on this cube. There is a glass bottom which should be quite fun to look down. I didn’t go on it but not because I was scared or anything. Had it not been the exorbitant charge (A$25 if I remember correctly) , I would gladly have volunteered to go on
Here’s a shot of the building taken from Federation Square Melbourne.
Apparently Eureka 88 is a residential apartment tower. There are 84 levels of apartments and car parks with the remaining floors being used as observation deck and restaurant. The project was built by Grocon, one of Melbourne’s most prolific builders.
