Nissan GT-R 2011

Since it’s almost 2011, let’s talk about something 2011 today… the Nissan GT-R 2011. While I’m not really a car blogger, I will make an exception today and blog about this Performance Monster.
In a recent test on Japan’s Sendai Highland Raceway, the 2011 GT-R scored an impressive 3.046 seconds in its 0-100km/h sprint. Nissan engineers say the time could have been even faster had the road temperature been slightly higher.
“The GT-R will reach the world of two seconds!” says Kazutoshi Mizuno who is the GTR’s chief engineer.
Besides updated aerodynamics and a sportier interior, power output has been beefed up…. to 523bhp at 6400 rpm.
The 2011 GT-R achieves its maximum acceleration when the driver selects ‘R-Mode’ and activates its ‘VDC-R’ traction to maximise grip and engine performance. Apparently in the less aggressive ‘A-mode’, journalists were still able to achieve 3.1 seconds for the 0-100km/h sprint.
In the US, the base 2011 Nissan GT-R is priced at US$84k. In Australia it will go on sale in March 2011 for A$169k. While in the UK it will be £70k, a whopping 18% price increase from the previous price of £60k.
The price in Malaysia? Well 2008 and 2009 GTRs are currently asking for RM480-550k. If it ever comes in new, should be at least RM700k. Sounds expensive? Not when you’re a car buff with a fleet of Porsches and Ferraris in your garage. The GT-R beats the 911 Turbo in many respects, so it’s a must have toy. High profile Malaysian owners include the likes of AmBank boss Tan Sri Azman Hashim.
Nissan has indeed come a long way…. remember those good ol’ Datsun Sunny and 120Y not too long ago?

Oh my god I love this car. I have loved the Skyline since the R33 GTR style. Good thing they just brought it to the states not too long ago, but it is way overpriced for me.
I guess I have to suffice with a future project car of a 240Z with a Skyline RB25 motor.
Oh the 240z is definitely a classic! Not sure whether the GTR will make it to the classic list but it beats even the latest Lambo Aventador in some respects! It’s not expensive compared to what you pay for Porsche, Ferrari and Lambo.
