Lamborghini Aventador to replace Murcielago in 2011
Jan 5th, 2011 by Neo
This will be a big year for super car maker Lamborghini. We’ll be saying goodbye to the long running Murcielago and hello to its replacement – the Lamborghini Aventador.

Scoop picture only… is this how the Aventador will look like?
For many, the Lambo is the ultimate super car with its drop dead looks, ridiculously impractical design but unbelievably fast performance. This time round, the Aventador promises to continue the tradition. Here’s a sneak preview of what it has to offer:
Lambo Aventador LP700-4
Engine: 6.5 litre v12
Power Output: 690 HP
0-100 kmh: 2.9 seconds
Top Speed: 217 mph
This is FAST but they really need to do better in the 0-100 time, considering the Nissan GTR is just as fast in this range.
We are not sure what the Aventador will look like because photos circulating on the Internet are just scoop photos for now. But you can be sure it will be typical Lambo…. sleek, wide, mean and drop dead exotic.
For me the Lambo craze really started in the Countach days. In those days, there was only Ferrari and Lamborghini. There was no McLaren, no Bugatti and all those other super duper exotics you see today. And the look of the Countach was totally in a class of its own. Ferrari designed beautiful cars, but the Countach wins on stares!

The Countach was in production from some 16 years from1974-1990. Next came the Diablo (1990-2001), which car buff Jeremy Clarkson described as being “designed solely to be the biggest head turner in the world”. The Diablo in its 6.0 litre version could reach 200mph (320 kmh).

Then under the new ownership of Audi, Diablo was replaced by current flagship Murcielago , upping the ante with its 6.2 litre and subsequently 6.5 litre engine which threw out some 620 horsepower (471 KW).

I’ve seen a handful of Murcielagos on our KL roads, a most memorable moment was seeing the RM2 million monster in Taman Kinrarra / Puchong slums, cruising past the mamak stalls and low-cost flats with its intimidating growl. Yep… I’m sure we’ll also be seeing some Aventadors in strangest of places in KL.
