Bukit Bintang Hotels
Feb 22nd, 2011 by Neo
I usually go to Bukit Bintang for shopping. As a shoppers’ paradise, one can get almost anything from cheap ornaments to branded goods. Trendy clothes, upmarket jewelry, fancy art works, beautiful time pieces and the latest gadgets… you name it, you got it. As for food, Bukit Bintang has it in abundance. At the basement of Lot 10 in HuTong Food Court, the hawker food is one of the best in Kuala Lumpur and they come from Petaling Street. It is said that YTL hand-picked and invited them to setup shop. If you are there on a weekend, the Char Koay Tiow wok does not stop clanging. And Food Republic at Pavilion offers plenty of choices, too much in fact. Can you ever decide what to eat when you’re there?
But this time, I’m gonna do something different and take a Hotel Tour in Kuala Lumpur’s golden mile. Let’s see what it offers in terms of budget and five star accommodation.
GRAND MILLENNIUM HOTEL KUALA LUMPUR

The Grand Millennium Kuala Lumpur a five-star luxury hotel with 468 rooms. It used to be called the Regent Hotel but changed hands and brand subsequently. Hotel amenities include an Executive Club, spa & fitness center, outdoor swimming pool, business center, restaurants and bars. One of my favorite food is the Fried Rice in Zing (the Chinese Restaurant). The hotel service is not bad, looking at some of the hotel reviews in Trip Advisor. This hotel offers special packages such as:
1. Weekend Away – One night stay (Check-in Sat, Check-out Sun) with buffet breakfast for two and free parking: RM360-745 depending on the type of room. 15% discount off the current room rate.
2.Leisure for Longer – 20% off the best available rate for 4 nights and longer. Based on an average rate of say RM600, you’d be looking at around RM2.5k for your stay.
3. Business Travel with Triple B: a special room rate from RM 413 including bed, breakfast and broadband.
(All these packages are valid till 31 Dec 2011 and please factor in the service charges and tax)
Room Rates (excl. 6% tax and 10% service charge) :
Deluxe Double Room (excl. breakfast): RM339-425
Deluxe Double Room (incl. breakfast): RM361-525

Located between Lot 10 and KL Plaza, it is within walking distance of Corporate Buildings (Menara Standard Chartered, Central Plaza, HSBC building on Jalan Sultan Ismail). The rooms are modern and nicely decorated. The beds are cozy and clean. However there are complains about the service namely the internet connection. Sometimes it can be slow and even out of order. Some rooms do not have mini bar or fridge. But there is a bar on the ground floor and can be noisy at night. Lower floor patrons may not sleep peacefully at night. There is no swimming pool.
Room Rates (excl. 6% Tax & 10% service charges) :
Deluxe Double or Twin:(1 large Double Bed or 2 single beds): RM290
Executive Double: (1 large Double Bed): RM350

It has the first revolving restaurant, which serves fine dining and offers panaromic views of KL. Mandarin Palace has pretty decent Chinese cuisine. I had duck rice and it was tasty. Verandah provides local and western delights while The Taj Restaurant serves northern Indian food.
The rooms are nice and tidy and come with basic amenities and plain decoration. However, the hotels rooms need refurbishing and renovation. I discovered that there is no basement parking.
The hotel location is 5 minutes walk away from Imbi Monorail stations.

Superior Double or Twin Room, (2 single bed + breakfast ): RM238
Superior Double or Twin Room, (2 single bed): RM208
Merdeka Deluxe Double Room, (2 single bed): RM228
Studio Deluxe Double or Twin Room, (1 large double bed): RM380

Situated along Jalan Bukit Bintang in the middle of a row of shop-houses is The Malaysia Hotel which is considered a budget hotel. The unique feature of this hotel, it has foot-reflexology and body-massage treatment parlors, souvenir shops, travel agencies for sight-seeing tours, and car rentals services.
The room is not too bad but old, a place to sleep in and move on the next day. Good for backpackers. The room rates are cheap about RM 100 a night. However, the staff is helpful and friendly but depending on their mood.
Room Rates(excl. 10% service charge):
Deluxe Double Room (1 Large double bed): RM100
Deluxe Twin Room, (2 single bed): RM100
Family Room, (1 single, 1 Large double bed): RM120

The Westin Hotel is located directly opposite Pavilion shopping mall. For meetings and events, the Westin Grand Ballroom has great variety of lighting effects which is great for corporate annual dinners and also weddings. The Westin Executive Club Lounge is good for privacy and stress relief for business travelers.
There is a “SuperFoodRx” menu, healthy food with everything from oatmeal and blueberry smoothies to smoked turkey tacos and broccoli and cheddar omelets. The tantalizing array of restaurants include:
1)EEST – Chinese
2)Daily Treats – Deli
3)The Living Room – International
4)Prego – Italian
5)Qba – Latin American
6)Splash – Snacks
I didn’t get to see the rooms but they are said to be spacious and comfortable.

Useful matter, you write! Costs less time in shops that sell things you don’t want your kids to have, or to ask for, like Target, or shopping centres in general. I will send a good feedback.
