About Hot Screensaver

THE NAME
I really love and enjoy watching Thescreensavers show which is aired on Astro, although those shows are very very old probably dating back to early year 2004. Thescreensavers was a very interesting talk show about the latest technologies, gadgets, tweaks, hacks and etc. It was owned by TechTV. However, someone by the name of G4 bought TechTV in middle 2004 and turned TechTV into G4TechTV.
Now, Thescreensavers was no more – instead you got Attack of the Show. A lot of Thescreensavers fans was not very happy with the new show, a lot of them missed Thescreensavers hosts, especially Leo, Yoshi, Sarah, Kevin, and Patrick. My favorite would be Kevin and Sarah.
Now, you have got the slightest idea why I choosed the name Hot-screensaver.com? Note: Hate the dash in the name, but otherwise are all taken
Hot-screensaver.com is my weblog for the Internet, technie, interesting stuff, Malaysia, random thoughts and life. Hope you enjoy visiting and do post your comments.
THE SITE
Created early September 2005, on Wordpress. The theme is from vanillamist.com with a few hacks and customization. The top picture is customized using Photoshop CS featuring Taiping, Perak – generously borrowed from ShawMeng.
THE AUTHOR
My name is Neo. I was born in 1975. Am I too old for blogging? Hehe. Few years back, I kind of migrated to Kuala Lumpur and completed my bachelor of Information Technology in a local university. Thereafter, started my career as a Programmer, webmaster, web developer, software engineer, etc
Along the years, I have built and designed many websites that were work-related and not work-related. With each of these websites completed successfully, I built on my experience and learnt from the professional web designers. I soon discovered that I can do a bit of webdesign too on top of web programming – design using Photoshop mainly, but still have a lot to learn.
My top interest would have to go to badminton. I play two to four times weekly at places like Desa Petaling and Puchong. At my free time, if I am not playing badminton, I love to watch TV, watch movies, tweak with my computer, do some web design, and do some leisure reading.
My favorite TV channels are National Geographic and Discovery Channel. Some of their programs that I always enjoyed watching are Air Crash Investigation, Mega Structures, Seconds From Disaster, and Crime Scene Investigations. Other than these 2 channels, I also tune in to Star Sports, ESPN and Astro SuperSport. Perhaps, these few favorite channels of mine are what make me from discontinuing Astro.

[...] Don’t you like the name Hot Screensaver? Anyway, when I started blogging a couple of readers asked me the exact same question, so I have written it all down in the About page. [...]

Nice to meet you lo.
I love your firefox theme. I guess I need to learn this stuff so I can update it.
You’re not too old for blogging. That’s a myth spread by clueless kids who think they invented the Internet, and own the web.
I was born in the 50s. I’ve been in IT since 1975. My generation made the Internet what it is today. Today’s kids are pretty much users and little else.

hey..i like the screensaver show too.. i missed it dearly..!! i like tech stuff..
cool!
It’s great that I found a website for my next presentation. Your blog really makes me terrific homesick. Especially those foods… I have a question, just curiousity, which country you’re original from since you said you were migrated to Malaysia?
I like to use the “screensaver” term when i am about to doze off while having a meeting or lesson. ;p
So if i say “I’m in screensaver mode” means I’m half awake or already going to snore. Ha ha ha.
Hey – Just stumbled across your site. I imagine you know that Leo Laporte, formerly of “The Screensavers”, does a whole bunch of podcasts. He calls his group TWIT, it started out with “This Week in Tech”, which had a lot of the old Screensavers cast on it. It evolves over time, but is great. Check it out on twit.tv, or i-tunes.

Hi,
What camera are you using for the photo? They’re brilliant.

no one bothers about ur age bro for this informative blog. keep on writing!
Do you have any plans to make the firefox theme widget ready. I am trying to add some sidebars to it and cant’ get the php syntax right. Any advice would be appreciated in how to edit the sidebar.php file. Thnx.
Love the MegaStructures show too – what great unlimited imagination some humans have! Let us always praise them and remember them for ever! (Actually I enjoy all engineering and science shows.)
Actually I am 20 years your senior and a retired software engineer. (Old enough to have used the Internet before WWW was invented! Vivat Sir Tim Berners-Lee and CERN for giving it to the rest of the world free!)
Came here accidentally looking for info on Chinese food – LOL!
Thank you for keeping a blog! (Better than reading these modern literary writers!)
