In fact, the effort that had gone into promoting the movie held more substance and depth than the movie itself. The Institute for Human Continuity (IHC) is part of a marketing and promotional campaign for the blockbuster. After visiting the IHC website, I was convinced that the world governments were in conspiracy and a secret institution for human race preservation actually existed. Kudos to Hollywood creativity!

Disappointingly, this movie was nothing more than a melting pot of sound effects and visual thrills. If the intention was to send a message to humanity about the impending apocalypse, it sure didn’t deliver that effect. The movie lacks script, plot development and supporting story line. ‘Best’ scene ever was when Jackson Curtis (John Cusack) realised that it was up to him, and only him to save the world. So imagine this scenario…

1. You have the entire survival of mankind in your hands.
2. You have less than a minute to act on it.
3. And you decide to play romantic kissy-face with your ex-wife while the world is waiting… tick-tock, tick-tock (and of course this is accompanied by super sappy music in the background).

If you wish to be mindlessly entertained by mass destruction on a grand scale (think gigantic tsunamis, powerful earthquakes and hailing asteroids) then you would probably like this movie. For those who have watched 2012, do you think it is worth all that hype?
